About Us
At Bass Coast Support Work Services (BCSWS) we provide assistance to people with all sorts of care needs and life goals. We are based in Bass Coast Shire and South Gippsland Shire, however we also deliver services within the Shires of Baw Baw and Mornington Peninsula. We accept participants with NDIS plans, including Behavioural Support Plans.
We pride ourselves on taking the time to understand the individual needs and goals of our participants, advocating for each person’s choice and control in their support network. Often this means that participants may work with multiple Support Workers from our team, so our team-oriented approach helps us deliver a consistent quality of care.
The family-like culture at BCSWS has been a focus since the very beginning. Our Support Workers are personable and have a range of skills that meet the needs of participants. We are committed to bringing a little joy to everyone’s day.
Why Choose BCSWS?
Our participant-centered approach is designed to help people feel at ease with the Support Workers they are working with, and to be in control of their own supports. We emphasise that the people we support are ‘participants’, because they are actively encouraged to make informed decisions about their own care, creating the right support network for the individual.
The BCSWS team work closely with local education and capacity building providers in the community, and we actively take steps to grow the number of skilled Support Workers in the area to meet the demand for our kind of support.
Our team build strong supportive relationships with participants by:
Providing one point of contact for everyday tasks and feedback
Having a managerial contact in place for feedback and reviews
Providing information in appropriate formats
Using person-centered practices where we involve our participants in the review of their supports, strategies, risk, and objectives on a regular basis.
Our Vision
The BCSWS vision is to provide the highest quality of care by understanding everyone’s unique situation and needs, and to work within our community to encourage an inclusive environment where everyone can strive to achieve their full potential, where anything is possible.
We aim to connect people, families, and communities, providing education where necessary with a focus on honesty, integrity, dignity, fairness, acceptance, participation, and inclusion. We want to see our participants continue to flourish in their communities by building skills and opportunities that reflect their individual goals.
In conjunction with quality care, we are passionate about growing our team of Support Workers to meet the high demand in the community. The 2021 Census indicated that there are over 30,000 people with long term health conditions in the South Gippsland region alone, of which more than 4,000 people require some type of support or care. There is therefore still a large need for more support workers in this industry, and we strive to fill this need as much as possible by providing eligible individuals with on the job training alongside their studies.
